Riuscirà davvero Radio Netherland a realizzare l'antico sogno di una radio dell'Europa unita? Sembra che l'idea di una emittente multilingua con una programmazione di respiro continentale diventerà una realtà a partire dal prossimo aprile e avrà una presenza in Olanda e in altre dodici nazioni. La Commissione europea ha concesso un finanziamento di 5,8 milioni di euro, ma non avrà voce in capitolo sui contenuti. Inizialmente le trasmissioni saranno in inglese, tedesco, francese e polacco con traduzioni in altre cinque lingue.
Radio Netherlands joins European radio network
Hilversum (11 December) - Radio Netherlands Worldwide is setting up a European radio station together with stations in 12 other EU countries.
The station, which will produce programmes from a European perspective, is due to start broadcasting daily in April. The programmes will be broadcast on the existing frequencies of the radio stations taking part and via a website which will be launched in June.
The broadcasts will be produced in English, German, French and Polish and will be translated into five other languages. In 2009, Dutch will become one of the core languages. The European radio project, which will receive a yearly subsidy from the European Commission of 5.8 million euros, will operate independently.
