il Festival SXSW premia le tecnologie e le app musicali più innovative

Sono stati premiati ieri i finalisti e il vincitore della gara per le migliori tecnologie musicali presentate al "Music Accelerator 2013" award del festival texano dedicato alle arti e all'interattività, South by Southwest. Mi fa molto piacere annunciare che nella shortlist definitiva compare il nome di uno sviluppatore italiano, il livornese Davide Morelli, co-fondatore di BioBeats insieme al suo ideatore, il britannico David Plans. BioBeats ha sviluppato il concetto di musica, vera musica generata dal battito cardiaco attraverso una app che è in grado di leggere il dato biometrico semplicemente appoggiando il dito sulla fotocamera dello smartphone. Da qui parte tutta una serie di opportunità di crowdsourcing musicale in tempo reale, coinvolgendo gruppi di persone nella composizione, basata su sofisticati algoritmi di intelligenza artificiale. I due "Davide" hanno entrambi una formazione musicale oltre che informatica.
Insieme a BioBeats erano state selezionate dall'insieme dei finalisti (qui di seguito l'elenco completo) le startup TastemakerX, un social game per la music discovery e  ROLI. Alla fine è stata premiata come vincitrice quest'ultima. ROLI è una giovane azienda londinese che con la sua tastiera musicale "touch", SEAboard, riesce a colmare il divario tra musica analogica e digitale offrendo a chi suona il pieno controllo su altezze, dinamiche e timbri. Tutto si basa sull'esclusiva tecnologia dei sensori SEA, "sensory, elastic, adaptive". Il fondatore e CEO di ROLI, Roland Lamb, ha studiato filosofia cinese classica e sanscrita a Harvard per poi acquisire un diploma in Designs Products al Royal College of Art di Londra.
