In morte di Socrate

Avtìo Sokrati, kalinikta Ellàda! Addio Socrate, buonanotte Grecia! La comunità greca dei "dimosiogràfi", i giornalisti (e dei blogger), è rimasta sbigottita per la notizia del brutale omicidio, questa mattina all'alba, del collega Sokratis Ghiolia, blogger del popolare (e mordace) blog Troktiko (Il Roditore) e responsabile dei notiziari di una emittente privata, Radio Thema. Sokratis, 37 anni, è stato ammazzato a raffiche di kalashnikov in un vero e proprio agguato teso all'ingresso della sua abitazione di Iliùpoli, un sobborgo di Atene. Più tardi la macchina su cui erano fuggiti i killer è stata ritrovata bruciata. Sembra che Sokratis fosse sul punto di pubblicare una inchiesta su un caso di corruzione.

Μουδιασμένη είναι η δημοσιογραφική κοινότητα αλλά και η κοινή γνώμη από τη δολοφονική επίθεση που δέχθηκε τα ξημερώματα της Δευτέρας, στις 05:20 π.μ. περίπου, έξω από το σπίτι του στην οδό Δαιδάλου στην Ηλιούπολη, ο δημοσιογράφος Σωκράτης Γκιόλιας. Οι αστυνομικοί περισυνέλεξαν συνολικά 20 κάλυκες από πυροβόλο όπλο στο σημείο της δολοφονίας…

Σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες πληροφορίες που συνέλεξε η αστυνομία, οι άνγωστοι δράστες κατάφεραν με κάποια πρόφαση να κατεβάσουν τον δημοσιογράφο στην είσοδο της πολυκατοικίας όπου είχε σταθμεύσει το αυτοκίνητό του και εκεί τον «γάζωσαν» με πυροβόλο όπλο με αποτέλεσμα να τον σκοτώσουν.

Στη συνέχεια οι (πιθανότατα) τρεις δράστες διέφυγαν με ΙΧ αυτοκίνητο. Λίγη ώρα αργότερα (στις 07:00) και σε σχετικά μικρή απόσταση από τον τόπο της δολοφονίας, βρέθηκε καμένο ένα ΙΧ αυτοκίνητο, το οποίο εξετάζεται αν ήταν των δραστών. Τα κίνητρα της δολοφονίας εξακολουθούν να είναι αδιευκρίνιστα, ενώ από την αστυνομία δεν αποκλείεται καμία εκδοχή.

Ο 37χρονος Σωκράτης Γκιόλιας ήταν διευθυντής του ραδιοφωνικού σταθμού «Θέμα 9.89» και (σύμφωνα με το tvxs.gr) ένας εκ των διαχειριστών του δημοφιλούς blog troktiko. Υπήρξε, επίσης, επί σειρά ετών, στενός συνεργάτης του δημοσιογράφου Μάκη Τριανταφυλλόπουλου.

OSCE media freedom representative condemns murder of Greek political blogger

BISHKEK, 19 July 2010 - Dunja Mijatovic, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, today condemned the killing of journalist Socratis Giolias and urged the Greek authorities to carry out a rapid and thorough investigation into the murder.

Giolias was the administrator of the most popular political and social blog in Greece, "Troktiko" (Rodent), and the information director of radio station Thema 98.9. He was shot today in front of his home in Athens by unknown assailants.

"Mr. Giolias was a well-known political blogger in his country, an investigative journalist often very critical of the previous government," said Mijatovic, who is on a visit to Kyrgyzstan. "As the motives of his killing are still unclear, I ask the Greek authorities to ensure that his murder is investigated rapidly and thoroughly, and the public is continuously informed of this process."

"The Oslo Declaration adopted last week by the Parliamentarians of the 56 OSCE participating States, including Greece, emphasized the unique and vital role of investigative journalism in strengthening democracies. It also called upon participating States to vigorously prosecute all of those responsible for the murder of investigative journalists," wrote Mijatovic in a letter to the Greek authorities. "I hope that the perpetrators of this horrifying murder will be very soon brought to justice."

Sto ascoltando lo stream di Radio Thema e c'è grande costernazione nella voce degli annunciatori. Sokratis era una voce evidentemente controversa, "politica". Al massimo un "oh poverino" e via che si continua, tanto che vuoi farci, è la vita, la violenza è inevitabile, implicita, scontata. "E' incappato in qualcosa di più grosso di lui," sentiremo dire. Certo, certo, figurati se non lo sappiamo bene, in Italia soprattutto, che i criminali e i corrotti sono più grandi della vita di un poveraccio che voleva denunciarli alla radio (o che peggio ancora alla radio li prendeva per il culo, come faceva Peppino Impastato, guarda caso polverizzato dall'esplosivo ai piedi di un tempio greco). Non ci accorgiamo nemmeno che quell'esplosivo, i proiettili di un'alba rovente ad Atene, hanno falciato soprattutto noi, presunti sopravvissuti. Tutto sommato forse è quello che meriteremmo.
